Welcome to the Daily Gossip: your daily stop-off to find out what the stars of the music world have been up to in the tabloids and beyond, with the help of plenty of "anonymous sources".

Today's top gossip:

Rihanna's steamy new video for 'S&M' has certainly proved controversial. So far it's been banned in 11 countries, MTV are considering re-editing it for daytime play and YouTube are making sure users confirm they're over 18 before watching it.

The video features Rihanna sucking on a banana, simulating sex with a blow-up doll and leading celebrity blogger Perez Hilton around on a dog's lead. Watch it by scrolling down and clicking below, if you think you're old enough (various).

From the papers and beyond:

Lady Gaga could be topping even Rihanna in the visual controversy stakes, we read. The singer has reportedly cast a record number of transsexuals for the video for new single 'Born This Way'. A "source" said: "This could be her most shocking video yet" (Daily Star).

According to the red-tops, Hurts singer Theo Hutchcraft has bagged himself a Playboy model. The suit-loving frontman, currently touring Europe, has apparently been dating former Miss Germany Shermine Shahrivar after they met at an awards show last year. According to an anonymous source Hutchcraft is "a real ladies' man" and "has had a lot of attention from models" (The Sun).

Spice Girl Mel C has caved in to demand, it seems – she's said that she is back in the studio making a "dance album". Her collaborators reportedly include club DJ and celebrated drag queen Jodie Harsh, and the singer is said to be "very excited" about the album (Deanpiper.com).

Finally, after following news of Sleigh Bells and Beyonce’s studio collaboration, could Best Coast’s Bethany Cosentino go one better in the pop crossover stakes? The singer was pictured hanging out with Justin Bieber backstage at the Late Show With David Letterman on Monday (January 31), though there’s no talk of a duet yet (picture at Brooklynvegan.com).

Check back tomorrow for the next Daily Gossip.

Don't you know that messing with the Biebs means messing with the whole posse?!
Justin Bieber was reportedly trying to leave Los Angeles International Airport today when an aggressive photographer refused to get out of the way.
That's when Bieber's bodyguard did what he does best—protecting the Biebs.

Los Angeles Airport Police told E! News in a statement, "Today at approximately 2:15 p.m., Los Angeles Airport Police observed what appeared to be a crowd control incident at Terminal 4 on the upper departures level involving Justin Bieber. An investigation revealed an altercation occurred between an unnamed body guard (victim) and a photographer (paparazzi) at the location."
The photographer was ultimately taken away by police.
"Twenty-one-year-old Alex Portillo, the photographer, a resident of Van Nuys, Calif., was arrested and transported to the Airport Police Station for pre-booking procedures. He was later transported to the LAPD Pacific Division Jail and booked for California Penal Code Section 245—Assault with a Deadly Weapon—a felony."
The Los Angeles Airport Police clarified that Portillo's handheld video camera in the incident is being considered as the weapon. Any additional details of the incident are part of the investigation and cannot be released.
Thank goodness our little Belieber is OK.

Taylor Swift: Speak Now Maintains Billboard Top Spot

Posted Wednesday January 12, 2011 3:35 PM GMT
She’s no stranger to success, and Taylor Swift's latest album Speak Now is holding steady at the #1 position on the Billboard albums chart.
However, the “Should’ve Said No” singer’s spot sets a new record for the lowest sales of a number one album, moving just 52,000 units last week.
Apparently the New Year has been sluggish for record sales overall, as the “Country Strong” soundtrack only sold 28,000 copies despite Gwyneth Paltrow’s hit song.
The Top 10 included, Swift, Nicki Minaj, Bruno Mars, “Tron: Legacy,” Eminem, Rihanna, Kanye West, Mumford & Sons, and Jason Aldean.

Bruno Mars Parties With Rihanna For Her 24Th Birthday

Bruno Mars has been spotted partying with Rihanna to celebrate her 24th birthday. Katy Perry and Chris Martin were also said to have been in attendance at the Barbados-themed Beverly Hills party, according to Mtv. The party reportedly featured a Caribbean-style dinner and cupcakes. A bass drum player played reggae tunes and guests were given costly Camacho cigars in their party bags. Mars was nominated for Record of the Year ('Grenade'), Album of the Year ('Doo-Wops & Hooligans'), Song of the Year ('Grenade') and Best Pop Solo Performance ('Grenade') but lost out on all four awards to Adele, the British singer who took home six Grammy awards.
The Grammy nominated Bruno Mars will also be appearing on Adam Lambert's next record. Lambert revealed the news in a recent interview with the New York radio station Z100. Although he could not confirm the exact release date of the record (which will be entitled Trespassing), he did confirm that Mars will make an appearance on the album.
Adam Lambert, the former American Idol contestant, is due to release his second album later this year. The title track was co-written with Grammy award winner Pharrell Williams. The lead single, 'Better Than I Know' is co-written by Dr Luke and Claude Kelly. Lambert told his fans that there were some late additions to the album, hence the delay in the record's release.

Katy Perry was right behind Swift with $44 million, while Beyonce Knowles and Rihanna finished off the top five, earning $35 million and $29 million respectively.

The totals encompass all aggregate pre-tax income earned from May 2010-May 2011, before expenses, i.e. subtracting agent and manager fees, and so on.
